One home's records sit in four places.
Buying a foreclosure in North Carolina means chasing one property across the clerk's file, the county GIS site, the tax card and the Register of Deeds.
The court file sits on the state's eCourts portal, one case at a time, behind a file number you already have to know. Many of the facts that matter, like the sale date, the trustee, the opening bid and who bid last, are inside scanned PDFs. Some are handwritten.
The house is somewhere else. The parcel and assessed value are on the county GIS site, the beds and square feet on the county tax card, the liens at the Register of Deeds. Each county runs its own.
Then the dates move. Sales are postponed, stayed by a bankruptcy, cancelled, set aside, or noticed again for a new day. A listing that was right on Monday can be wrong by Thursday. And after the sale the clock is short: miss the deadline by a day and the window is gone.
So we do the chasing. Homes in a bidding window and homes a member tracks are re-checked every evening after the courthouse finishes docketing. Other active cases are re-checked every two days. We read the new filings, match cases to parcel and building records where the county publishes them, and put what we find on the home's page. Each court fact we capture opens the filing it came from.

The courthouse sale is only the first bid.
After the trustee reports the sale to the clerk, anyone can raise the price within 10 days by filing an upset bid.
Each upset bid starts a new 10 days, and two upset bids can be filed on the same day. Once 10 days pass with no new bid, the home is sold.

Title search runs in one county today, on many of its cases: the vesting deed, the deed of trust chain, which deeds of trust are active or satisfied, their priority and loan amounts. Anything we could not confirm is flagged for a second look. It is not a full title search, and other liens may exist.

Questions buyers ask
Is this an auction site?
No. We do not hold auctions, file bids or take deposits. Upset bids are filed with the Clerk of Superior Court in the county of the sale.
Where does the information come from?
The case and its filings come from the NC court portal, the parcel from NC OneMap and the county assessor, and the building from the county tax record. In the one county with title search, title comes from the Register of Deeds. These are public records. For members, listing photos and market estimates come from a third-party listing source.
How current is it?
Homes in an open bidding window and homes members track are re-checked every evening after the courthouse finishes docketing. Other active cases are re-checked every two days. Each home shows when it was last checked.
Can I rely on it without checking the court file?
No. We read the court's own record and link each fact we capture to the filing it came from. Scanned filings still get misread, and courts change dates late, so before you put money down, open the filing and confirm it with the clerk.
Do you text or email me before a deadline?
Not today. Homes with an open window show the deadline, and you can add it to your own calendar.
Is my county on here?
The county section above lists each county with cases in the tracker, with its count. A county with only a few cases here may have many more on file at the courthouse. We cannot give an exact date for adding any one county yet.
Who sees my request?
Our employees who review invites, and the services that host the site and send email. The privacy page lists them.
